The summit has faced additional setbacks unrelated to Gates.

One widely discussed incident involved a university showcasing a robotic dog named “Orion” as an in-house innovation. Online observers quickly pointed out that the device closely resembled a commercially available Chinese-made product, leading organizers to remove the exhibit.

Logistical problems also drew criticism. Attendees reported long queues, road closures for VIP movement, and confusion at entry checkpoints. In another incident, wearable technology devices were reported stolen from an exhibitor’s stall, with local authorities later arresting two maintenance workers in connection with the case.

A Summit Meant to Showcase Innovation

The AI Impact Summit was intended to highlight India’s ambitions in artificial intelligence, from research partnerships to large-scale industrial deployment. Instead, political tensions, security questions, and organizational hiccups have dominated headlines.

While the government continues to promote India’s long-term AI strategy, the withdrawal of a figure as prominent as Bill Gates has demonstrated how quickly global events can shift from technological celebration to political controversy.

Whether the summit ultimately advances India’s AI ambitions remains to be seen—but for now, the Epstein shadow continues to influence the narrative.
